About Shariann Girgis’ Practice

Clinical Hypnotherapist Westmeadows

Restoring a Sense of Safety and Connection, PLEIN AIR THERAPIES is a multi-disciplinary integration of mindfulness, neurophysiology, somatic and emotional awareness, deep nature connection, and non-cognitive ways of knowing into a coherent container of safety and well-being, promoting the nourishing restoration of connection to self, body, emotion, the senses, others and nature.

“I believe that reality is a perspective unique to each individual and that we humans are extraordinarily powerful and magickal. We are co-creators of our universe.” – Shariann

Throughout your healing journey I will be the compassionate guardian of your nervous system, ensuring careful titration of your felt experience. We will work together to create a sense of connection, safety and internal space, supporting your mind and body to unwind and integrate difficult experiences that burden you.

Clinical Hypnotherapy has the potential to ‘fast track’ your treatment by efficiently bridging the subconscious mind with the conscious mind. As your Clinical Hypnotherapist I will harness the natural function of your extraordinary human mind, inducing a trance state and skillfully administering psychotherapy that supports and empowers you in your endeavors to live a better, more fulfilled life.

Eco-Psychotherapy is offered from August through to May (weather permitting) with June/July being more focused on “in room” restorative/spiritual and preparatory Eco-psychotherapies.

Eco = The relation of living things to their environments (e.g. Humans within the ecological system of nature)

Psychotherapy = The practice of being with another person in a skilled way that is helpful or healing.

Western Psychology largely ignores the profound importance of the human relationship to nature; however Eco-Psychotherapy creatively explores ways to foster the need to experience deep connection to oneself and others through connection to the natural world. Eco-Psychotherapy has profound therapeutic potential that goes beyond traditional Psychotherapy. Emerging studies show that it transcends many issues associated with traditional psychotherapies. Health and wellbeing practices in cultures in other parts of the world deeply engage the natural environment. The natural world is not integral to the theory and practice of mental wellbeing within Western Psychology. By casting out nature we become lost, we lose our connection to ourselves. In my practice, I breathe new life into the nature traditions of the old ways. It is a gentle process of remembering your unique human condition that is central in holding an integrated relationship between ‘self’, the natural environment and society. Some of the ways we will engage with our natural environment include;

• Vision Walks (inspired by traditional Vision Quests)

• Bird Watching

• Forest Bathing (Japanese ‘Shinrin-Yoku’)

• Nature-based Meditation and Mindfulness

• Soul-Craft Practices: From the works of Bill Plotkin

• Nervous System Regulation: From the works and teachings of Stephen Porges & Deb Dana

• Nature/Plant Spirit Communication: From the teachings of Sharon Bolt

• Nature Sit-Spot Practices: From the works and teachings of Sean O’Carroll

Reiki Healing is a complementary therapy to obtain a sense of health and wellbeing.

The word Reiki is the combination of two Japanese words – Rei which means “Universal” and Ki which is “life energy”. So, Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

It is a beautiful way to experience life force energy in a channeled, concentrated way. Reiki is extremely safe; people often report feeling a gentle sensation of warmth come over various parts of their body during a healing. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn, use or receive Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from ‘universal life force energy’ itself, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it. In your first session we will harmonise your natural state of flow, with valuable time after your Reiki Healing for you to gently transition back into the room and have the opportunity for your experience to be witnessed. Together, we navigate any emergent emotions, new awareness or understandings that have surfaced for you and I will draw on my repertoire of various modalities to assist you in integrating your experience. This may include, but not limited to Somatic Practices, Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, tailoring our session uniquely to you.

A Distant Reiki Healing is done remotely. I will send you a ‘health report’ via email which will include information about areas of concentration required for your balancing as well as any other information that intuitively drops into the session.

Meet Annabel, a sweet toy poodle who will be undertaking the long process of becoming a trained therapy dog when she is a bit older, but for now she is very happy just to meet and greet you with bundles of joy and happiness, enjoying all the pats and cuddles she receives from her ever growing and adoring fan base. Please feel comfortable to mention prior to your session if you would prefer Annabel to be absent from your therapy. (At times I may deem that it is not suitable for Annabel to accompany us during indoor or outdoor sessions, in which case she will be absent)

“You are loved, your needs are important and everything that exists is interconnected and that includes you!”

I look forward to working together…

Yours truly in SAFETY, TRUST, and CARE.

– Shariann
