Who do we help?
Bunbury Hypnotherapy specialises in anxiety, fears and phobias, and the behaviour these worries, intrusive thoughts or flashbacks can lead to.

If you or a family member have been struggling with anxiety you may have been experiencing physical symptoms such as sweaty palms, shaking, emotional outbursts, racing thoughts, brain fog, increased tension, nervous feelings in the tummy, difficulty sleeping or fatigue.

Common ways that people try to manage the stress include, avoiding situations that trigger anxiety, not starting or completing things for fear of failure or rejection, procrastinating by spending time on social media or keeping themselves ‘busy’ in other ways, and sometimes comforting themselves using food, cigarettes, alcohol or other methods.

How do we help?
The good news is that intrusive thoughts and memories can be gently released and you can learn new effective coping strategies at any age. The first step is to understand how you have been doing things and from there we can identify the skill gaps to be filled and any unhelpful beliefs that have been holding you back. Once any anxiety triggers have been desensitised we can develop new cognitive skills to support lasting behaviour change.

Strategic Psychotherapy is the process that helps us to understand your old thought and behaviour patterns. After exploring your strategies together, modern solution-focused hypnosis methods are used to teach the new cognitive skills needed to be successful. The process gently allows you to let go of the past and focus on optimising your skills and abilities to create a better future.

About your therapist
After many years in the education sector and learning complementary therapies like hypnosis, NLP, Qigong and meditation, Helen moved into private practice to follow her passion for helping people understand how to harness the power of their own mind to achieve their goals.

With a commitment to lifelong learning and continuing professional development as well as the desire to help people with more complex issues, this led her to further studies in Strategic Psychotherapy and the most modern developments in the field of Clinical Hypnotherapy and eye movement therapy.

Alongside her private practice Helen spent several years as a volunteer therapist at a local Cancer Care Centre where she gained valuable experience helping people facing uncertain futures, loneliness and loss. She also has a special interest in supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families.

Helen is experienced with helping people of all ages from primary school to over 80, to achieve lasting change, which means not just feeling better but doing better.

Consults are available by appointment, either in clinic or via video link. Helen is registered with a range of health funds as an ancillary services provider. Health fund enquiries and self-managed or plan-managed NDIS enquiries are welcome.
